"Who is A God like Thee, pardoning iniquity?" (Micah 7:18)
The song of the saved sing continually - "My iniquity is pardoned!" The song of the Lamb - "Forgive them, Oh, forgive!" This is the bedrock of the Christian's faith and Christianity. There is no other salvation foundation than on the ground of sins forgiven - all other is sinking ground. Oh, Blessed Redeemer, who has washed all my sins away!
Do you sing this song, dear reader? Has Christ washed all your sins away? If so, how do you know? What has He done within you? Are you done with sinning?
Sins forgiven are sins forsaken. This is the clear call and teaching of the scriptures. For on one hand, God says that He does not hear the sinner (see John 9:31, Psalm 66:8, Proverbs 28:9, and Matthew 6:15). On the other hand, the Bible says "...there is forgiveness with Thee, that Thou mayest be feared" (Psalm 130:4), and "by the fear of the Lord, men depart from iniquity" (Proverbs 16:6).
There is no inconsistencies in these passages. Look deeper at all these scriptures and see revealed a deeper, truer and more precious promise - that God forgives those who are willing to forsake all their sin. It seems that in these days everyone wants to go to heaven, but no one wants to be done with sinning. It also seems that everyone has gotten saved at least ten times, but no one is saved from their sins. There are many still making excuses for sin. But Christianity is not a sinning religion! It just isn't. It is the only religion that gives power from sin. Glory! How about you, dear friend? Have you felt and known the hot wrath of God upon you while you were a sinner and have you been set free from sin by the forgiveness that is in Christ Jesus (Acts 5:31)?
