What keeps us from prayer?
* Sin; doubt
* Waning or lack of desire (love)
Desire, to look at first, is really the gauge or thermometer of our wholeheartedness to God. Is your heart single and singly devoted in desire to God?
If you consider your carnal needs for a moment, would you readily agree that when you are hungry or thirsty, that you will promptly eat or drink something? Is that true? That fridge in your home ever stands as the terminator/exterminator of hunger pains and thirst.
Prayer and Scripture ever stand as the means of life and life sap to ever-withering branches. I'm not talking about the modes of prayer or scripture reading plans and study. I'm taking about these two means as the only channels by which God can and will come down into our souls and abide. Do you abide in those two means? Or, is your prayer closet empty? Are you empty of God and full of food? Or, is scripture ever the bread of life and heaven to your ever drying, never-dying soul?
