Prayer is an evangelical force in the world that is largely unused. We don't pray today as men and women a hundred years ago prayed.
Through prayer we can make a highway for God to work and move and in His people dwell. But in a general sense, we are too comfortable without His manifest presence and power at work in our various street ministries, pulpit ministries etc. Are we too self sure and confident. Have we the Spirits pant for Christ that "without [Him] ye can do nothing"?
Truly, if we felt our need for Christ we would devote ourselves to Him and sacrifice all for Him.
How about brother Nash's burden: "Oh, I am dying for the want of strength to pray! My body is crushed, the world is on me, and how can I forbear praying?" These are his last recorded words.
