"...Christ in you, the hope of glory."
The Christian doesn't have the hope that one day Christ Jesus will live inside. No, no. The Christian has currently, presently, the reigning King Jesus within them. This is true Christianity - the Living God ruling, living and commanding the true surrendered soul. If there is any hesitating here, or you do not know if this be your case, then you are not a Christian and the work remains to be done in you.
Picture in your mind a brutal hangman or an evil decapitator standing in front of you. The crowd surrounds you with evil chants of "Allahu Acbar (misspelled)." They all command you to convert to Islam or die.
What will you do, christian?
Does a smile break out on your tear-stained and dirt-speckled face? Does that song, by the Holy Spirit, rise up to your pursed lips? Though quiet at first and trembling your voice is barely heard, but at once the lips open and the heart is completely resolved - God fills the mouth with power - and a flood comes out:
"He lives, He lives, Christ Jesus lives today! He walks with me and talks with me along life's narrow way. He lives, He lives, Salvation to impart! You ask me how I know He lives? He lives within my heart."
If there is any reserve now, dear friend, or if there is a "no" in your heart now, dear reader, than there is that work of glory left to be done in you. You are not a Christian! Only those that persevere to the end shall be saved. Christ within is our only power against sin and self now and shall be our only strength for a time such as what I described above. Call upon Him today!
"The fining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the Lord trieth the hearts."
